Hi Everyone !

I need to fade in and out images on a web page via actions.

A) Is it possible ?

B) If A), then could someone kindly please post explicit instructions how to achieve this via actions.

It would also be great if an example of a delay of 2.5 seconds could be incorporated after the page loads as well.

Thanks for a great website !

And thanks in advance

Yes it is possible, however, I have not been able to do it with NOF.
You can make a page fade in and out, but only in IE, and I have not been able to do it with NOF, as it does not allow code editing to the extent you would need.
Does that answer your question?

Thanks,

Hi Micah

Yes it does answer my question, however it is not the answer I was hoping for lol !
I was hoping to achieve some sort of gradual image appearance. I see that under the message parameter of an action there is 'transition'. with the attributes of 'peek, iris and wipe'. I am guessing that Iris, if I could get it to work, would be acceptable. However the extremely poor (NOF) documentation  does not detail either exactly what these terms mean or give an example . Maybe this might be a topic for one of the this sites great tutorials ?
I have even thought of multiple images that have previously been pre-processed in various fade stages and then loaded in the same position on the web page at the same location to give an impression of fading in and out. I guess that would require some form of programming that is well beyond my abilities.
Another guess is that flash could do the fade in and fade out, however once again that is going beyond my knowledge.

I'd really like to crack this problem so I am open to other solutions that are easy to implement so if anyone can give a clue I sure would appreciate it !

Thanks once again

I will check out the actions later tonight if I get a chance, and get back to you.
As I have mentioned before, I would love to do some more tutorials, but I am so busy with other web design stuff that I have no time. I have about 5 other tutorials that I plan on doing sometime in the next couple months. However, I understand that having the tutorials then would not really help, so I will try to get them up sooner. Smiley
Flash would be the easiest or you could use a rotating gif, but that is not worth the time it would take.
Lightbox gallery does a good job of things like that, you might check them out.

Thanks,
Admin

okay, so I used the actions, and I can get the "peek" and "wipe" actions to work. However, when I try to get the iris to work, it just flashes on, and trying to lengthen the fade in does no good.
I would look for a script on www.scriptsearch.com or www.hotscripts.com.
I am not sure why it does not work with Iris.... You could try it on your computer and see if it is different.
Click the photo you want the fade in with, and then then click the actions tab. Then click the + button, and use "Page Loaded" in the "When" box, and "Iris" in the "Message" box. Then go down to "Parameters" and click "In". Next click "Parameters" again, and go to values, and set how many seconds you want the action occur over.
See if it works for you.

Thanks,
Admin

Hi again

I've done what you suggested and tried it out on 3 different Browsers
(Opera, Internet Explorer and Firefox). Unfortunately none of them worked for me at all. I have tried and tried and nothing seems to work. I suspect it is my lack of understanding that is causing it not to work (plus the low grade documentation of NOF doing little to help improve my understanding). I must admit to being extremely frustrated about this !

Thanks once again for your help. I will now have a look at the two websites you mentioned.

yeah, I was afraid that would happen, actions are not very reliable in NOF. Did you find anything?

I've not found anything at the moment if I find what I am looking for I will share it here. You are absolutely right - actins are not noF's strong point unfortunately  ! grrrrrrrrrrrrr
